Cathy Norman has had to unschedule herself as hike host for this event due to another pressing engagement. Eric Shott and Larry Parsons will do the hike coordination and guidance. Whereas Cathy is a favorite among members of this group and she will be missed by many, we will try to have a pleasant, mindful experience on our own.

• What we’ll do
The weather looks perfect for Sunday. We will gather in the parking lot on for a 2.5 mile round trip hike at Balls Bluff Regional Park.

We will enjoy a leisurely hike on the trails traversing the forest and bluffs just above the river and connecting the beautiful Potomac Heritage Trail before our return trip. There are some ups and downs and the trail will be muddy is some places so wear appropriate footwear. There are no long steep ascents but some smaller hills to climb.

Bring a snack or packed lunch and plenty of water.

Cathy is a Virginia Master Naturalist, a Hatha Yoga Teacher (RYT 200) and a mindfulness instructor who believes in the restorative power of contemplating nature through all five senses when hiking and forest soaking. She loves to guide hikes with people who find joy and solace in nature and in intentional community.

Larry Parsons uses mindfulness meditation as an anchoring practice in his very full life. He has a passion for hiking, camping and soaking in the beauty of nature as a restoring meditative practice.
