Join us as we gather for a weekend camping retreat to celebrate the first days of fall and the autumnal equinox (September 22) with a relaxing weekend of hiking, camp fires, fun and fellowship at the beautiful blueridge mountain retreat up on Mt. Weather. You may come prepared to spend the night in the Studio with your own air mattress and sleeping bag or use a tent.

This retreat is intentionally loosely structured. While there will be scheduled group events such as AT hikes, visits to a winery and brewery, meditative nature walks and morning yoga, there will be ample time for participants to relax and pursue individual activities. Or if you’d like to come to the retreat, pitch your tent and spend the entire weekend doing nothing but hanging out with your fellow retreat attendees by the camp fire, that’s perfectly OK.

Please note that with the exception of perhaps smores fixings and popcorn, everyone will be responsible for there own food and drink. Depending on what you want, it would be a good idea to bring a cooler, loaded up with whatever you like. All cooking must be done over the camp fire or a camp stove. Also please note that the main house on the property will not be available for any cooking or to store perishables. So please come prepared. There will probably be some extra equipment such as camping stoves and a few tents that you can borrow but not many. It’s highly recommended that you bring your own camping gear.

As stated earlier, there should be ample time to pursue individual interests such as nature based art, writing in a journal, star gazing on the lawn or simply relaxing by the camp fire. that said, following is a loose schedule of group events that you can expect.

Saturday – Around 11:00 AM – We’ll head on over to Morgans Mill RD. and take the AT for an out and back hike to the Buzzards Hill overlook. A round trip of about 4 miles. *** Please note that this hike has some moderate climbs and is somewhat strenuous. If you’ve done 5 plus miles on the AT before, you shouldn’t have any problems ***.

Saturday – Around 4:00 PM – For those interested, a visit to the Dirt Farm Brewery

Saturday – Around 8:00 PM – We’ll enjoy a short night hike, possibly from the RT7 AT parking lot to the Bears Den overlook and back… exact location TBD.

Sunday – Around 8:00 AM – Morning yoga

Sunday – Around 10:00 AM – Meditative nature walk.

Sunday – Around 1:00 PM – After lunch, a closing blessing and for those interested, a visit to Twin Oaks winery on your way home as a finial social gathering.
