What to bring:
Please bring at least 1.5 liter of water in a backpack and a few snacks/lunch. In my hiking boots or trail shoes, to avoid blisters, I apply Vaseline/Aquaphor ointment on my feet and wear two pairs of socks (i.e tin plus wool (avoid cotton)). For clothing, I wear layers and absolutely avoid cotton as sweat will not dry.

Carpool:

Please carpool – check where other hikers live (by clicking on their names), and contact them via message, or just post a comment if you are looking for a ride, or can offer a ride and from where … and make hiking buddies on the way there.

For the one who wants, we will be carpooling from Chick-fil-A in Leesburg from where we will be packing up cars – leaving 7:45 am.

Carpool fee: $5 per person as a reimbursement for fuel / car maintenance.

Parking: free

We look forward to seeing each of you who are able to fit this into your schedule.

We will have a moment of silence for each one to appreciate the beautiful sounds of the Catoctin Mountain Park.

“Hike on!”

PS: Pets friendly (leashed only)

Note: Make sure to double check where is the Visitor Center, and try to arrive 10-15 minutes earlier…Many hikers have missed the fun of an event (including myself) because of not checking the route, or not building a buffer. It is not fun to follow GPS to a close fence in the middle of nowhere.
