NOTE: If we’re full here, you may be able to sign up for this event via our other meetup – Let’s Take a Hike from Suburbia.
We’ll walk the Murphy-Chambers Farm loop (approximately 2 miles) at Harpers Ferry National Historical Park. The farm has significance as the site of a Civil War battle and for the remains of a reconstruction of the John Brown Fort, which has since been moved back to the old town.
For the most part, the path will take us through a gently rolling meadow under big skies. There is a short and lovely woodland section and a clifftop view of the Shenandoah River.
Then we’ll take the park shuttle into the historic town of Harpers Ferry, walk a short way to our meditation spot, and enjoy 10 minutes or so of quiet contemplation. Seating will be on stone steps that descend to a few feet above a particularly beautiful section of the Shenandoah River. Insulated sitting pads will be provided.
Afterwards, there is an option for lunch at the Potomac Grille in the old town before taking the park shuttle back to our cars.
Please remember to bring snacks and water.
The park entrance fee is $10/car.
