The long range forecast looks great and the fall color should be lovely for our afternoon hike at beautiful Sky Meadows State Park. This will be an moderate hike as we will avoid the more strenuous North Ridge Trail to the Appalachian Trail.
We will go to the Ambassador Whitehouse Trail first and then intersect the Appalachian Trail to enjoy the beautiful forest and meadows along the top of the ridge.
I believe this is one of the most extraordinary hikes in our region roaming by a beautiful creek, along the mountainside through big meadows and a time to contemplate and reflect at the expansive Whitehouse Overlook.
Please bring a snack, bug spray and plenty of water. We have built in plenty of time to enjoy the fall color, birds and sounds as part of a “forest soaking” experience along the way.
