Lets explore the Fairfax County Cross County Trail(CCT) from Hunter Station to the CCT’s northern terminus at Difficult Run. Like most of the CCT, this hike is generally flat and mostly follows stream valleys through Fairfax County. We’ll meet at the Difficult Run parking area just off of Georgetown Pike and run a shuttle to Hunter Station which is located where the W&OD crosses Hunter Mill Road.¬†Would need to retrieve shuttle vehicles after hike.

***IMPORTANT – The shuttle will be leaving Difficult Run at 8:00AM so please arrive a little early… the earlier the better. If the weather is nice, the parking area at Difficult Run fills up fast!

***ALSO IMPORTANT*** Please be certain you plan on attending before you RSVP. If you RSVP and your plans change… no worries. Just be sure to update your status so someone else on the wait list can jump in if they want. Your cooperation is very much appreciated. ¬†

POST HIKE MERRIMENT:-)

As in all of the events I run, some sort of post hike lunch stop is planned. But this time around, we’ll figure out what, if anything, the group would like to do during the hike.

ABOUT THE EVENT HOST:

Ron has been a lover of nature and an outdoor enthusiast for the last few decades and back in 2009, left an 18 year career in information technology so he could pursue his dreams and passions in nature and the outdoors on a full time basis. Currently, he works as a Sr. Park Ranger for NOVAParks at Algonkian Regional Park. In addition to his day to day duties, he runs all of the parks guided kayak tours and also started the Algonkian Nature Preserve which is a long term labor of love of his. You can read more about the ANP by visiting the Imagine web site at https://liveimagining.org/ and clicking on the Algonkian Nature Preserve link “A Journey To Soul” in the right hand column.
