We will gather on Sunday, December 16 to celebrate the holidays together on beautiful Mt. Weather near Bluemont at Blueridge Summit Retreat.

There will be a Yule Log burning at the fire ring for the duration of our retreat.

Please dress comfortably in layers and bring gloves, scarf and hat for our time outdoors.

Bring a dish to share with others (portion for 6) as we enjoy the gift of intentional community for our lunchtime meal. You may bring a few apples or chestnuts that we can roast in the fire.

There will be a special time to share the ancient story of winter solstice (12/21) and make an organic treat for the birds (to hang on your tree or share with a neighbor) for this season of winter.

We will close our time by stoking up a bonfire with a guided meditation on the interplay of shadow and light as we approach the longest day of darkness and the emerging light of spring.

Cathy is a Hatha Integral Yoga instructor (RYT 200) and has studied mindfulness and meditation practices through her yoga training and the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction 8 week course and studied with Dr. Susan Carol Stone (UVA Mindfulness Center). She also completed training at the Shalem Institute in leading contemplative small groups and retreats. Cathy is a Virginia Master Naturalist. She and her husband live at Blueridge Summit Retreat and celebrate sharing their property as a place to learn meditative practices and restore mind, body and soul.

Elaine is a devoted meditator and yoga practitioner finding a center of hope and solace in contemplative activities. She finds hiking and meditating in nature to be very healing as a restorative grace in mind, body and soul. She enjoys sharing these experiences with others. She consistently integrates time in nature in her very busy work week during her lunchtime. Elaine believes in the transforming power of intentional community and nature creates a welcoming presence for all to connect to both the natural world, to meditative presence and to one another as we hike and share story together.
