Join us for a guided western trail ride located in Linden, VA on the Marriott Ranch. On this walking, scenic, meditative horseback ride, you will cross streams, open valleys, and rolling hill. Come find out why a man who could buy anything, chose this beautiful 4200 acres to restore to a working cattle ranch, where he hosted US presidents and business leaders from around the world. http://www.marriottranch.com/about-marriott-ranch
BRING a picnic lunch and water to drink. There will be tables on the shaded porch, and restrooms, but NO DRINKABLE WATER. We’ll gather to hear some thoughts about how to enjoy riding a horse from Peggy, a local equestrian who has been riding since the age of 10. Peggy has been a passionate recreational trail advocate, and has traveled and camped with her horse throughout the east coast.
WEAR LONG PANTS and CLOSE TOE SHOES WITH HEELS. This prevents your foot from slipping through the stirrup. WEIGHT LIMIT 250 pounds.
The ranch charges $45 plus tax for a total of 90 minutes mounting, some basic instruction, an hour of trail riding, and dismounting. You must call 540-364-3741 to PAY IN ADVANCE by credit card to finalize your reservation. Don’t lose your spot!
Please follow our driving directions. Your GPS might take you on back roads and we might not see you again until next spring. I was able to use Google Maps to navigate correctly via Crest and Hume Roads to the Marriott Ranch. From there you can continue past the ranch to the trail ride barn on Fiery Run Rd.
The group may elect to stop for an optional dinner at one of the many local restaurants on the way home.
