Cathy Norman is an Integral Yoga teacher trained at the Satchidananda Ashram in Virginia and is a member of the National Yoga Alliance. “Integral Yoga is a flexible combination of specific methods designed to develop every aspect of the individual: Physical, Emotional, Intellectual and Spiritual. It is a scientific system which integrates the various branches of Yoga in order to bring about a complete harmonious development of the individual.” – Sri Swami Satchidananda.
Each class will incorporate postures/asanas, deep relaxation/yoga nidra, breathing practices/pranayama and meditation that result in a profound experience of peace and well-being.
Students of any age and condition are encouraged to explore each posture at their own pace. No background in yoga is required. The practice is gentle and invites body awareness and a strong, balanced, peaceful mind, body and spirit.
By balancing effort and surrender, the practitioner is able to discover the optimal flow of energy to achieve greater flexibility, strength, poise and mental focus.
This is a 90 minute experience. Please bring your own mat and a blanket. An optional 30 minutes will be offered reflecting on a mindfulness practice to integrate balance and peace in our daily lives. Cathy has taken the eight week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction class (Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn/Univ Mass Medical Center) and learned mindfulness techniques taught at Duke Integrative Health and Herbert Benson Mind Body Institute (Harvard) through Cynthia Moore (University of Virginia Medical Center)
There is no charge for this experience.
