Mindful Restorative Yoga – 2 sessions – Monday, May 1st and 8th 7:30-8:45 pm
This class is designed to introduce Mindful Restorative Yoga as a practice to boost your immune system and increase mindful stress reduction and relaxation.
Restorative Yoga will be limited in size as the postures are held in supportive positions with blankets and other immune boosting and stress reducing elements requiring more attention and adjustment.
We have special eye pillows to help the mind relax and come back to the present moment while the body is in a supported posture (asana).
The class will include guided meditation for stress reduction.
Please bring a yoga mat (extras available) and a large towel
Erika has been practicing yoga for 25 years. She is committed to mindfulness meditation and has experienced many aspects of yoga, including Restorative Yoga, in a committed community of practitioners. Erika is part of the current Imagine Yoga Teacher Mentoring class. Erika is also an artist and recalls that creating art is as necessary for her as breathing. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Virginia Commonwealth University with a BFA, she used her strong imagination and creative thinking as a graphic designer for over 25 years. When she is not painting you can find her sipping tea in the sunlight, hiking with her dog, kayaking in the Potomac river, reading a good book by the fire or laughing with her children.
Cathy is a Hatha Integral Yoga instructor (RYT 200) and has studied mindfulness and meditation practices through her yoga training and the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course and has studied with Dr. Susan Carol Stone (UVA Mindfulness Center). She is a certified to teach mindful yoga to children and families (Budding Yogis). She also completed training at the Shalem Institute in leading contemplative small groups and retreats. She is currently teaching Hatha Integral Yoga at Prosperity Eating Disorders and Wellness Clinic in Herndon and at her private studio near Bluemont, VA. Cathy is also a Virginia Master Naturalist and includes images from the natural world as part of each yoga practice.
Fara is passionate about yoga and meditation and is currently enrolled in the Imagine Yoga Mentoring class. She brings a commitment to community and loves nurturing multi-cultural friendships. She has a background in business and program management and event planning. Fara has a warm and welcoming presence and will be greeting and assisting in yoga classes through Imagine.
