This class is designed to introduce Mindful Restorative Yoga as a practice to boost your immune system and increase mindful stress reduction and relaxation.
Restorative Yoga will be limited in size as the postures are held in supportive positions with blankets and other immune boosting and stress reducing elements requiring more attention and adjustment.
We have special eye pillows to help the mind relax and come back to the present moment while the body is in a supported posture (asana).
The class will include guided meditation for stress reduction.
Please bring a yoga mat (extras available) and a small blanket
Cathy is a Hatha Integral Yoga instructor (RYT 200) and has studied mindfulness and meditation practices through her yoga training and the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction 8 week course and studied with Dr. Susan Carol Stone (UVA Mindfulness Center). She is a certified to teach mindful yoga to children and families (Budding Yogis). She also completed training at the Shalem Institute in leading contemplative small groups and retreats. Cathy is also a Virginia Master Naturalist and includes images from the natural world as part of each yoga practice.
