We will gather at Blue Ridge Summit Retreat – BlueridgeSummitRetreats.org (25 minutes West of Leesburg) to learn and experience mindfulness practices  in the beauty of the retreat studio and on the land.  Walking paths with meditation coves are part of the 11.67 acre property.

Directions from Rt. 7 East

DO NOT USE GPS (INCORRECT ON GOOGLE MAPS)

Take Rt. 7 West past Purcellville, Round Hill and Bluemont.  When you are climbing the mountain you will see a blinking intersection sign towards the crest of the mountain. You will get in the left hand turn lane and turn left on Blueridge Mountain Road (Route 601). You will travel six miles on this lovely Virginia Scenic Byway and look for the FEMA Emergency Management facility as a landmark. Once you pass the tall fences you will be counting mailboxes on the right side of the road looking for the third one on the right (about a mile from the FEMA fence). THERE IS A BLUE

The property is located on Mt. Weather about 25 minutes from Leesburg and 45 minutes from Ashburn (blueridgesummitretreats.org). The Appalachian Trail is 8 minutes away by car.

You will enjoy a mixture of forest with large rocks and boulders, a small pond and a mowed meadow with fruit trees, blueberry bushes and a lovely grape arbor.  There is a lovely walking trail with contemplative, quiet areas with a bench for sitting and observing the beauty of the mountain.  The property backs up to 110 undeveloped acres so the deep quiet of the mountain is an important part of the experience.

There will be an ongoing Mindful Sunday Morning  offering every other week throughout the year so that practices become part of people’s daily lives to integrate wellness in body, soul, mind and spirit.

There will be a brief time introducing and learning and experiencing a mindfulness practice including a brief lesson on some element of nature in our region to increase awareness.    There will be  time for a meditative walk on the property or sit quietly in the studio enjoying the view out of the large windows.  A closing time of sharing in community will include opportunity for reflections and questions.

Cathy has studied mindfulness and meditation practices through her training as a Hatha Integral Yoga instructor (RYT 200), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction 8 week course and has studied with Cynthia Moore (UVA  Medical Center) and Dr. Susan Carol Stone (UVA Mindfulness Center).  She also completed training at the Shalem Institute, Bethesda, MD) in leading contemplative small groups and retreats.
