We will gather at Blue Ridge Summit Retreat – BlueridgeSummitRetreats.org to learn and experience mindfulness practices including regional awareness in nature and time to reflect in solitude and community.
The studio and property is located on Mt. Weather about 30 minutes from Leesburg and 45 minutes from Ashburn (blueridgesummitretreats.org). The Appalachian Trail is 8 minutes away by car.
This will be an ongoing Mindful Sunday Morning offering every other week throughout the year. Each session stands alone and is designed to integrate wellness in body, mind and soul including practical tools for stress relief in daily living.
There will be a brief time introducing mindfulness and the remainder of our time will be learning and experiencing the practices together. There will be a closing time of sharing in community for reflections and questions.
You will enjoy a mixture of forest with large rocks and boulders, a small pond and a mowed meadow with fruit trees, blueberry bushes and a lovely grape arbor. There is a lovely walking trail with contemplative, quiet areas with a bench for sitting and observing the beauty of the mountain. The property backs up to 110 undeveloped acres so the deep quiet of the mountain is an important part of the experience.
Cathy has studied mindfulness and meditation practices through her training as a Hatha Integral Yoga instructor (RYT 200), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction 8 week course and has studied with Cynthia Moore (UVA Medical Center) and Dr. Susan Carol Stone (UVA Mindfulness Center). She also completed training at the Shalem Institute, Bethesda, MD) in leading contemplative small groups and retreats.
