We are so grateful to open Blueridge Summit Retreat (Dave & Cathy’s home) with your safety and well-being as our priority. We believe that, safe, in-person community, in the beauty of nature, is an integral part of our well-being in mind, body and soul.

We are asking that you understand we will limit our RSVP and ask that you do not respond unless you are committed to attend. We know there will be a waitlist for this event. We will be hosting this event for the next few weeks if the weather allows.

Even though we are outdoors we will require masks and will maintain a distance of six feet at all times. We will ask for you to sign in with your own pen and share your email in case of the need for contact tracing.

We ask that you bring your own bug spray, snack/lunch/water bottle and your own yoga mat and towel. Please bring your own folding chair/camping chair.

Mountaintop Meditation Description

We will begin with a community welcome and a meditative reading/practice in nature.

We will then connect with one another by coming to our yoga mats (socially distanced outdoors – you may choose to journal or relax on the lawn if you choose not to participate in yoga Cultivating full-body relaxation and balance are the goals, as we make a full circuit of the body’s range of motion with standing and seated postures, twists, and hip openers. We will practice breathing techniques and close with deep relaxation with Yoga Nidra (Shavasana), a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping.

We will enjoy lunch/snack outdoors in our chairs or on our towel/mats.

Our gathering will include a forest soaking walk and some time to completely relax in the beauty of the mountain on the lawn or in your chair.

We will conclude with community sharing and the Loving Kindness Meditation (Metta Meditation) as our sending gift.

June Knesl is a RYT 200 and has special training in Chair and Lymphatic Yoga. She is passionate about the healing and restorative power of yoga in her own life and loves introducing these practices to people of all ages and abilities. She is passionate about multicultural friendships as she worked at the UN most of her adult life.

Cathy Norman, RYT 200, is an Integral Hatha Yoga Teacher, is a Virginia Master Naturalist and a Meditation instructor (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction model). She and her husband share their property near Bluemont to create a welcoming place to host meditation in nature, yoga, mindfulness meditation and art workshops.
