Celebrate the new year and the quiet beauty of winter with a 4.5 mile round trip hike on the Appalachian Trail near Bluemont. We will meet at Blueridge Summit Retreat and carpool to the nearby AT where parking is very limited. Please dress warmly and bring a snack for the hike. This moderate hike will take us first to the beautiful Acadia Creek waterfall for a brief respite at this massive rock wall where we will pause to enjoy the sounds of the water and the view of the creek cascading down the mountain.
We will continue another mile to enjoy the expansive vista overlooking the Shenandoah Valley at Buzzard’s Overlook before our 2.25 mile hike back to the carpool.
Upon our return to the retreat we will enjoy a large campfire with hot cider and popcorn popped over the open fire.
We will close our time with a brief guided new year’s meditation.
