We’re thinking this would be a good time to learn more, a lot more, about black history and culture. We’re going to start with a book about Thurgood Marshall.
Although we have set goals in terms of the number of chapters to be covered at each meeting, all are welcome to join the discussion or just listen in.
June 25: “Showdown: Thurgood Marshall and the Supreme Court Nomination that Changed America” by Wil Haygood, chapters 1-5. Currently, there are two physical books and one book on CD available at the library.
July 2: “Showdown: Thurgood Marshall …,” chapters 6-11.
July 9: “Showdown: Thurgood Marshall …,” chapters 12-Epilogue.
July 16: “The Invisible Man” by Ralph Ellison, chapters 1-5. LCPL has 10 borrowers waiting on two copies. Amazon has it for $2.99 on Kindle and $12.19 in paperback.
July 23: “The Invisible Man,” chapters 6-10.
July 30: “The Invisible Man,” chapters 11-15.
future: “The Great Oklahoma Swindle” by Russell Cobb. Library does not yet have it in any format. Available for sale only in hardcover at this time. We’ll see.
