Cultivating a regular meditation practice is the best, most direct way
to reap the benefits of mindfulness in every-day life: more
compassion, more connection, more joy. Together, we will sit in silent
meditation for approximately 20-25 minutes, followed by an opportunity
to share how the practice is unfolding in our lives. Our intention is
to inspire one another toward regular meditation practice, while
sharing the direct, rich experience of sitting in communal silence.
Ours is a warm and welcoming community for first-time and seasoned
meditators alike. Please join us.
Brigitta S. Toruño has meditated for over 27 years. She was introduced to meditation by a meditation teacher 27 years ago during a very stressful time in her life. It was life changing. It changed her perspective on so many things. She still studies with her meditation teacher – Dr. Elliott Dacher. One thing she knows for sure is that 5 years into meditating, the Washington, DC traffic did not phase her. She clearly remembers the day sitting in traffic and seeing really angry and frustrated people – and thinking “Wait – this traffic isn’t bothering me in the least!” Whoa. Big change. She started practicing the loving kindness (metta) meditation about 6 years ago, and she welcomed this part of her practice as well. Brigitta meditates 30 minutes every morning and evening. She is forever grateful for her meditation practice.
