Orienteering Workshop at Algonkian Regional Park. The workshop will include 30 to 45 minutes of classroom type instruction on navigation basics sitting on the grass in front of the Woodlands event center. Then we’ll set off on one of the 5 leg courses I built that wind through the park which will take about an hour or so.
We will only be using a standard orienteering compass for this workshop. I have access to extra compasses you can use but if you have your own and would prefer to use it, by all means bring it along.
I will freely admit that this event is more of a test run of an orienteering workshop I’m working on as a recurring event for Imagine at https://liveimagining.org/. I’m hoping to find a handful of folks who would enjoy wandering around the park for a few hours, hopefully learning something along the way, while helping me work on and polish my presentation:-)
POST WORKSHOP MERRIMENT:-)
Afterwards, for those that care to, a visit to..

ABOUT THE EVENT HOST:
Ron has been a lover of nature and an outdoor enthusiast for the last few decades and back in 2009, left an 18 year career in information technology so he could pursue his dreams and passions in nature and the outdoors on a full time basis. Currently, he works as a Sr. Park Ranger for NOVAParks at Algonkian Regional Park. In addition to his day to day duties, he runs all of the parks guided kayak tours and also started the Algonkian Nature Preserve which is a long term labor of love of his. You can read more about the ANP by going to https://liveimagining.org/ and clicking the “Journey To Soul” link under the Algonkian Nature Preserve section in the right hand columb.
