We will gather in the main parking lot for a beautiful springtime hike at Sky Meadows State Park. Sky Meadows offers 16 miles of hiking trails including a connection to 3 miles on the Appalachian Trail.
Our hike will begin in the main parking lot ($5 per car parking fee) and continue along a mixture of beautiful and diverse environments including ascending the mountain along a rocky creek bed, traversing a beautiful ridge top meadow and enjoying the expansive vista overlook Virginia wine and horse country. This is one of my favorite hikes in the area. Please bring a packed lunch, snacks and plenty of water.
This is a moderately challenging hike with some rocky sections and uphill climbs.
The park has some beautiful groves of Redbud trees along with many kinds of spring wildflowers that we will take the time to appreciate along the way. The dogwoods are just beginning to emerge, as well.
I look forward to seeing each of you next Sunday morning.
