Our sister group, “SEEKERS Anonymous – DC Metro”, will be meeting again on Monday, March 9, for Week 13 of the “Peeling the Cosmic Onion: A Journey of Spiritual Transformation” series! The topic will be “Ethics”.
At our last meetup, we approached our Cosmic Origins from the perspective of the Self. Is there more to our collective Beginning than the materialist paradigm leads us to believe? Is the experience of individuality a reflection of a universal consciousness that binds all life together, and is this wisdom something that has been known for millenia by indigenous cultures throughout the world? Is it only our modern, Western society that has lost sight of it? The film “All is Self” challenged us to re-evaluate our deep connection to all living things, and to consider how we can apply this sense of Unity to our interactions in the world.
This powerful connection to other Beings naturally leads to a sense of compassion, which forms a strong foundation for a comprehensive system of Ethics. At our next Meetup, we will examine the field of Ethics from a Humanist perspective, discovering how compassionate individuals have found a way to engage the world in a positive manner without relying on a divinely dictated set of “Do”s and “Don’t”s. Surprisingly(?), many of the conclusions are the same. Could it be that there is a Divine Order which shapes our reality in ways that neither the Religious nor Secular worlds truly comprehend?
Please consider joining us at Ridgetop Coffee & Tea in Sterling, starting at 7:00pm on Monday, March 9, as we explore the field of Humanist Ethics and the philosophy behind it!
Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you on the 9th!
