This hike is designed to celebrate the beauty of summertime in Riverbend Park. We will start at the Riverbend Visitors Center and follow the Potomac Heritage Trail along the Potomac (flat and easy except 1 hill) for about 2 miles. We will then take the Bootlegger Trail (moderate, with a few hills) through the woods to return to the Visitor’s Center. All trails are extremely well maintained and it is mostly in woods providing some shade cover.

The Challenge

During the hike you will be challenged to use your 7 senses (sight, sound, smell, touch, taste, imagination, wonder & awe) at some point during the hike and to record your experience. At the end of the hike, when we gather together and share one experience with the group in a word or a few words so that we can all share the memory. The rest are yours to keep and cherish.

Logistics

Because this park can become crowded and parking can get tight, we are going to gather @ 8:15 am at the Visitor’s Center. We will gather on the porch.
