This beautiful out and back hike will celebrate the spring bluebells and wildflowers in Seneca Park along the Potomac River. I plan on allowing plenty of time to enjoy the sound of the river, the early spring leaves and the delicate wildflowers carpeting the forest floor. You may want to bring a pair of binoculars.
The plan is to meet in the parking area at the end of Seneca Rd off of Georgetown Pike. Plug the following coordinates(39.051580, -77.334130) into the maps.google.com search area or a GPS to pin point our meeting location if needed. Look for my green Jeep Compass when you get there. Remember to bring a snack, water and shoes appropriate for some possible spring muddiness.
HIKE INFO:
DIFFICULTY: Intermediate
LENGTH: About 6.5 miles
ELEVATION GAIN: About a 1/2 mile hike from the parking area down to the river then back up again at the end. Otherwise, mostly flat.
