LIABILITY RELEASE:
By RSVP’ing to attend this event, you agree to release Imagine Well Being and Let’s Take a Hike from Suburbia from any liability. Please review the Liability Release Agreement below.

Event Description:
Summer Solstice Hike at Blueridge Center – Butterfly Ally!
We will celebrate and welcome the Summer Solstice by hiking two beautiful sections (Legacy Loop and Butterfly Ally maybe to the AT-see below) of the Blue Ridge Center’s 900 acre land preserve for a total of about 6-7 miles. The Center is scheduled to become a State Park. It is near Harpers Ferry. We will take some moments to contemplate the beauty of the lake and wildlife as we walk along with a brief contemplative reading on summer.

Legacy Loop: Crossing Piney Run from the Farmstead Loop, wind your way toward Gordon Pond. Relax and take in one of the most scenic areas of the Blue Ridge Center, with the foliage of the ridge reflecting in the water.

Butterfly Ally: This more challenging trail is situated in the Blue Ridge Center’s backcountry. Hike uphill to connect with the Wood Thrush Trail or keep climbing the mountainside and meet up with the Appalachian Trail.

We will go at a moderate pace and stop frequently to take in the natural beauty of the summer. You can look at either the Blue Ridge Center website or AllTrails (look for Legacy Loop) for maps of the trails.

Please bring a packed lunch, plenty of water and insect spray.

The Center includes 10-mile trail network winding through forests and meadows, following valley streams, and climbing up the mountainside. Trails are free to the public and open from dawn until dusk every day of the year.

Please don’t sign up unless you are committed to attending. If you find you can’t attend after signing up, please change your response so others can join.

We will meet up for the hike at 9:30; meetup group registrants will be sent details of where to meet up for the hike. When arriving at the hike meeting location, look for hike leader Eric wearing a Shenandoah Park ball cap.

Please bring water and a snack or lunch and dress for the weather- it will probably be warm to hot – and wear good shoes for hiking.
