Teen Yoga & Mindfulness
Teens will meet in a separate class area from Serenity Hatha Yoga for Well Being so adults can enjoy a free class at the same time.
Teens today live in a stressful, competitive world full of constant technological stimulation. Yoga & Mindfulness provide a winning combination of “tools” teens can use to help cope with the stress in their daily lives.
In this class, we will learn classic, gentle yoga poses and introduce breathing, relaxation and mindfulness techniques to increase strength and flexibility of both the body and mind.
Dress comfortably and bring a yoga mat if you have one (there are extras available to borrow). No prior yoga experience is necessary just an open heart and mind.
Nancy McGovern RYT 200
Nancy stumbled onto yoga more than 5 years ago while looking for a fitness class at a local gym. She quickly found that her years of ballet training made many of the poses feel like “home” in her body. She completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training and completed a Teen Yoga residential training this summer. She has had Yen/Restorative training as well as workshops for teaching children’s classes. She most recently completed the Palouse Mindfulness’ 8 week “Mindfulness-Based Stressed Reduction” class based on the MBSR program created by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Nancy has been teaching children for 25+ years and is now offering “Corner of the Sky” to bring yoga and mindfulness to children of all ages in hopes of providing tools to help them cope with the everyday stress they encounter.
