This weekly spiritual gathering is open to Everyone! We will “come as we are” to share our experiences and grow together, focusing on our community values of: Compassion, Forgiveness, Service, and Wisdom.
We will be guided by the teachings from various spiritual traditions and excerpts from various authors including: Jon Kabat Zinn (Wherever you go, there you are), Rick Hanson (Buddha’s Brain), Swami Satchidananda (Yoga Sutras of Patanjali), Richard Rohr (Universal Christ), Eckhart Tolle (The Power of Now), and Thich Nhat Hanh (You are Here).
Each gathering will begin with a period of silent meditation. We will then explore different spiritual topics, share our thoughts and responses in a small group setting, discuss how we will work towards the integration of spiritual teachings and practices into our daily lives, and close each meeting with a period of guided meditation and reflection.
Gatherings will be led by Jami Obermayer. Jami was raised in the Catholic tradition and began studying meditation and spirituality in the Eastern traditions in 1993. She has studied in a variety of spiritual traditions including Western Christianity, Hinduism, and Taoism. Jami is a meditation and RYT-200 yoga instructor with a Ph.D. in Sociology from American University. Additionally, she has been conducting NIH-funded behavioral health research since 2001 including the development and evaluation of mindfulness-based interventions. She currently teaches both group-based and private yoga and meditation classes for adults and children in the Northern VA area.
This weekly gathering is offered as a gift to the community through Imagine and is supported by The Crossroads Church.
