We will gather at Blueridge Summit Retreat on Sunday, April 30th to carpool to the nearby Appalachian Trail for a 2 mile round trip hike. We will stop at a beautiful mountain stream flowing among abundant mosses and ferns (AT to the left on Morgan’s Mill-605).

We will experience some gentle stream side yoga and spend some quiet moments there before we complete our hike including a moment to make a small cup of local, herbal tea. We will carpool back to the studio for our covered dish (vegetarian) and enjoy some beautiful meditative music by Jami (Kirtan).

Please bring a vegetarian offering for the covered dish and dress comfortably for hiking and gentle movement outdoors. Please bring your own bug spray.

Cathy is a Hatha Integral Yoga instructor (RYT 200) and has studied mindfulness and meditation practices through her yoga training and the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course. She and her husband live on Mt. Weather near Bluemont at Blueridge Summit Retreat. Cathy is a Virginia Master Naturalist and loves leading hikes and meditative experiences in nature in the region. She is certified to teach mindful yoga to children and families (Budding Yogis). Cathy completed training at the Shalem Institute in leading contemplative small groups and retreats. She is currently teaching Hatha Integral Yoga at Prosperity Eating Disorders and Wellness Clinic in Herndon and at her private studio near Bluemont, VA.

Jami Obermayer is a meditation and yoga instructor with a Ph.D. in Sociology and a Graduate Certificate in Professional Counseling. Additionally, she conducts NIH-funded research on mindfulness-based practices applied to health behavior interventions and has completed Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction training. Jami currently teaches both group-based classes and private-sessions for adults and children in the greater DC area. She brings a gentle and strong meditative presence to her yoga teaching.
