This monthly session will focus on the clinical and evidenced-based practices of Hatha Yoga with a special focus on pranayama (breath work). We will include our practice with Yoga Nidra and a brief seated mindfulness meditation.
There is no charge for any Imagine events as we only ask that an act of service be shared with someone else as a way to “pay it forward”.
We have designed this session to introduce the eight limbs of yoga with a focus on 3 of asanas (postures) and pranayama (breath work) along with dhyana (meditation) for our practice.

Nitin Dogra teaches meditation at AT&T and was chosen to speak on mindfulness for one of their national AT&T TED Talks. Nitin started practicing a serious regimen of breathing exercises, yoga, meditation & visualization for 60-90 minutes daily with a positive state of mind after facing a life altering illness. . More than positive thinking i focused on feeling positive. Learning these techniques has been a blessing, as it has helped me become emotionally & physically more resilient to face my health challenges & life in general. It has helped me perform better at my job & find meaning in what I do at work and outside. It has help me find real meaning in my life & given me the emotional strength to take on new challenges for my own good & good of people around me.
Cathy is a Hatha Integral Yoga instructor (RYT 200) and has studied mindfulness and meditation practices through her yoga training and the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction 8 week course. She has also studied with Cynthia Moore (UVA Medical Center) and Dr. Susan Carol Stone (UVA Mindfulness Center). She is a certified to teach mindful yoga to children and families (Budding Yogis). She also completed training at the Shalem Institute in leading contemplative small groups and retreats. She is currently teaching Hatha Integral Yoga at Prosperity Eating Disorders and Wellness Clinic in Herndon and at her private studio near Bluemont, VA. Cathy is also a Virginia Master Naturalist and includes images from the natural world as part of each yoga practice.
