The long range forecast looks like sunshine and a high in the low 50’s for our Saturay afternoon 4 mile round trip hike at beautiful Sky Meadows State Park! This will be a moderate hike as we will avoid the more strenuous North Ridge Trail to the Appalachian Trail. We will go to the Ambassador Whitehouse Trail first and then intersect the Appalachian Trail to enjoy the beautiful winter vistas including the forest and meadows along the top of the ridge.
I believe this is one of the most extraordinary hikes in our region roaming by a beautiful creek, along the mountainside through big meadows and a time to contemplate and reflect at the expansive Whitehouse Overlook.
Please pack a lunch or snack and bring plenty of water. We have built in time to enjoy the winter vistas including a “forest soaking” experience along the way.
There is a $5 per car fee to enter the park. We will meet at the main parking lot and I will have my orange backpack out to mark our gathering spot in the parking lot.
